Dear Strath Haven Seniors and Parents,

Our Yearbook staff is hard at work on our 2021-2022 yearbook.

After attending journalism conventions and completing additional training, we have many ideas and initiatives to expand our coverage.

To fully tell the story of another unprecedented year, we believe that we need to cover the entire year— from September to June— instead of finishing the yearbook in early spring as the yearbook staff did prior to 2020.

In order to feature events that otherwise wouldn’t be in the Haven Yearbook if released in June, we will again be pushing back our release date to late summer for seniors and in the beginning of the fall semester for underclassmen.

Though we recognize that this plan is different from Haven’s yearbook releases before 2020, we have thoroughly discussed it with our senior yearbook staff, and we believe that this plan is the best way to remember this unique year.

Last year, our yearbook centered around the theme “unprecedented” and covered many of the different aspects of school life. We’re still in somewhat of an unprecedented time, where our school’s story is more important than ever—especially for the senior class.

In the 2020-2021 yearbook, we had the opportunity to feature events like the Senior Ball, Commemoration, Graduation, and so much more! These events are important to us, as well as the rest of our senior staff, and we feel that they should be included in our yearbook.

We would like to emphasize that we’re making this decision purposefully—not based on deadlines, but more so that we can look back at these amazing memories for a lifetime, and bond together as a grade and a school.

The 2021-2022 Haven Yearbook staff will still provide the opportunity to exchange autographs and last words to seniors by distributing a supplement that can be added to the yearbook. Students will have the opportunity to sign this at the end of the year like they would with a full yearbook, and then add it to the back of their yearbooks after distribution. We hope that this will still allow the book to be special for our seniors and all students who enjoy sharing messages.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding of our dedication to fully telling our school’s story. We feel that our expanded coverage will be worth a later yearbook distribution. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for allowing us to tell your story!
